2008 Expanding Your horizons

In the spring of each year, an organization based at Los Alamos National Laboratory called Los Alamos Women in Science organize a one-day collection of workshops and other activities designed to interest teen girls in science, technology, engineering and math fields.  The day begins with a team activity, where teams of girls compete to build something to specifications, or to complete a scientific investigation.  Then there are workshops for them to attend in the morning and afternoon covering many different areas of science, from robotics to biology and everything else.  RGNs organize an aeronautical workshop as part of this program, this year involving cross-country planning from Santa Fe to Durango, including comparison of flight times and fuel burns for various chapter aircraft.
